I can throw in a story or two between songs or just shut up and play; I usually leave that to whoever's listening or what the venue asks for. I always bring a setlist, but things happen and I never get halfway through it. Every time I show up is different, but I'm always shooting for a grin once in awhile...
I started out playing by myself and still do it that way about half of the time. I usually play mostly, if not all, covers of real songs because that's what most people want to hear. It's usually a pretty wide mix of upbeat blues, country, and older rockish things; nothing that hurts. If there's a need for something different, I also have several hours' worth of original music that can either fill up a show, or I can sprinkle in one now and then.
A FEW ORIGINAL SONGS
The Andy Griffith Show is closing in on 65 years old and it's still on TV every day.... somewhere...
I wrote these songs one weekend when my wife went out of town. I was planning on painting my house. It rained the whole weekend, so I needed something to do...
FROM MY HOUSE TO MAYBERRY
A FEW COVER SONGS
These are from a few decades ago; For a few months, I recorded a jingle every few days for Jack Smith, who owned a music store. I set out to make the most obnoxious and awfullest commercials for a local radio station in Conway, Arkansas. I "performed" most of the jingles as Slim Whitman's third cousin, Lardbucket. I was told people came into the store wanting to see that Lardbucket guy, so I guess they did their job...
