SUPERPICKS SEASON
A LEGEND REBORN:

THE STORY BEHIND THE MOST ELECTRIFYING PREDICTION CHALLENGE SEASON EVER HELD IN THE HISTORY OF PERRY COUNTY & WORLD WIDE WEB SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT

Dewayne “MOE” Hightower and Michael “FURF” Martin first became video legends during the span between 1998 and 2000, when their competitive spirit and exhibition of sportsmanship were first recorded on videotape. The end of this era was marked by the departure of the last surviving football coaches involved in the creation of what became known as “The Moe – Furf Project.” Copies of this video proved to be very popular, and now can be considered valuable collector’s items. The departing coaches formed what is known as PEFCA, the organization that now serves as the governing body of all Moe & Furf Challenges.

The new coaching staff chose not to continue the tradition begun by PEFCA coaches. Despite attempts during the 2000-2001 school year to revive the contests, PEFCA was unable to pull it off due to numerous scheduling conflicts and illnesses during the year. Could it be that Moe & Furf’s “One Shining Moe-ment” was gone “Furf-ever?”

In the fall of 2001, PEFCA members formulated a plan to revive the legend in a one-time competition that had been held during the “Super-Era:” It was called “SuperPicks,” and Moe & Furf took on all-comers in a contest of predicting the winners of the High School Football Playoffs. A total of 18 challengers took on the two legends.

It was the intent of PEFCA to stop at this point, but they had underestimated the appeal of Moe & Furf. This contest had been placed on a web page, and while the video camera was good to Moe & Furf, the World Wide Web exposure brought an unexpected explosion to their fan base. As more and more people began to check in on the first competition, it became clear to everyone that this event was the Lay’s Potato Chips of Internet sports entertainment;  the world wouldn’t stand for just one competition. Moe & Furf had exploded on the scene worldwide, and there was no stopping them.

PEFCA gave in to public demand, and the legend of Moe and Furf was reborn. The result was a series of challenges between Moe, Furf and all the fans that would prove to make Michael and Dewayne the most electrifying sports legends in the history of Perry County Sports Entertainment. One simple competition has grown into the pages you are now reading…..

THIS IS THE WEB SITE
THAT MOE & FURF BUILT

This web page will attempt to recap the highlights of the
MF 2001-2002 SuperChallenge Season….

THE ORIGINAL
2001 SUPERPICKS CHALLENGE

This contest was held during the state high school playoffs and was based on the original Superpicks held during the Super-era during which Moe & Furf first appeared on video. It was intended to be a one-time challenge, but the competition it brought to Perry County sports entertainment resulted in a huge following that demanded an entire season of challenges. It began with a total of 18 competitors, but as the weeks passed, one loser after another began dropping out as they could see their chances of winning fade away…

This hotly-contested title went to
MICHAEL "FURF" MARTIN
as a result of his down-to-the-wire victory
over Coach Campbell in the
AAA high school state championship game.

Furf was awarded this year’s prize for the title, and the previous winner of “THE ROCK” now adds “THE PIE” to his long list of awards.

Two characters attached themselves with the Moe & Furf legend during this competition:
Marc Tucker actually won a weekly contest and started mouthing off to Moe & Furf. However, despite proclaiming to Moe & Furf  that “I OWN YOU” on one occasion, he soon became a non-factor and found his seat on the L-Train………

Another character began a run on the web page that would prove to be more challenging.
Kirk Riggs (if that was even his real name), an outsider, joined in on the competition. During this first challenge his game was to give us hundreds of words of game analysis, only to go down every week. The more he lost, the more he seemed to think that he knew. As a result, a rivalry between the new kid and the legends began that would last the entire MF 2001-2002 Challenge season…
The 2002 MOE & FURF BOWL

This was a contest in which competitors attempted to pick the winners of all 25 College Bowl Games. Controversy arose toward the end of this contest, but when the final score was added up, every challenger was forced to know their role as loser…

There is no way that the events surrounding this classic challenge could ever be adequately described by words. Over the course of three weeks, never has a Moe & Furf competition been as filled with trash talk, lead changes, upsets and controversy. Some of the contestants had to be disqualified, and
Kevin Campbell avoided the death penalty by issuing a self-imposed sanction that not only stripped him of an apparent win, but would make him ineligible for the next challenge as well…

When the dust finally settled on this first-ever event, only one gladiator stood above the rest without any cloud of controversy. With a victory of one point over his life-long opponent, Dewayne Mohammed Rasheed Idi Amin Khomeni Ali Baba Hightower was awarded “The Moe & Furf Bowl” for his victory in the 2002 Moe & Furf Bowl.

He can always be reminded that he is the MF Bowl Champ any time he sits down to have a nice full bowl of  soup, chili, stew, VANILLA ICE CREAM or cereal…

At first, he threatened to not accept the trophy because he was disappointed in how far off he was, but when he found out that Furf was right behind him in the standings and was next in line for the trophy, he took the bowl and ran, making a bold statement to Furf about what he can expect in the year 2002 and beyond………………
There were many controversies during this contest and some contestants had to be disqualified, but PEFCA feels that to dwell on these unfortunate circumstances would only diminish the prestige of the award, as well as hinder PEFCA’s efforts in bringing you the most electrifying sports entertainment found in Perry (and POPE) county….

Therefore, the records of all investigations and inquiries made by PEFCA will be sealed and never released to the public. We feel that not only will the MOE-FURF EXPERIENCE be tarnished, but so will the reputations of those involved.

We see no reason to scar those who have made mistakes or found themselves in unfortunate circumstances, and feel like everyone deserves a second chance…..

In other words…

WE AIN”T TELLIN’ NUTHIN’!!!
PEFCA-NFL CHAMPIONSHIP
CHALLENGE FINALS

PEFCA OFFERED A NEW CHALLENGE WHILE MOE & FURF ENTERTAINMENT TOOK A BREAK FROM THE TWO PREVIOUS SUPERCHALLENGES. THE CHALLENGE WAS PICKING THE WINNERS OF THE NFL PLAYOFFS LEADING UP TO AND INCLUDING THE SUPER BOWL. IT WAS DURING THIS COMPETITION THAT PERSONAL ATTACKS BECAME COMMONPLACE AMONG THE CHALLENGERS, MOST NOTABLY TWO INDIVIDUALS WHO SEEMED TO IRRITATE FURF IN THE SAME MANNER AS STEVEN HOWARD, THE ORIGINAL DEGENERATE, DID DURING THE SUPERSERIES OF 1999.

THE COMPETITION WAS EXTREMELY CLOSE AND FOUR WERE TIED FOR FIRST PLACE GOING INTO THE SUPER BOWL….

THIS GAME TURNED OUT TO BE ANOTHER MOE & FURF-STYLE GAME THAT WENT DOWN TO THE WIRE, AND ON THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME, THE CREAM ROSE TO THE TOP…

STOKES AND MAGIE PROVED THAT THEY ARE THE ELITE OF THE NFL PICKING CROP BY PREDICTING THE UPSET TO SEPARATE THEMSELVES FROM THE L-TRAIN TOUR GROUP….

STOKES TOOK THE TITLE WITH THE TIEBREAKER BY A SINGLE POINT

JOSH COLE AND GRANT WATTS LEARNED THEIR ROLE AS LOSERS AFTER DREAMING THE DREAM OF A CHAMPIONSHIP….
THE MOE vs FURF
SUPER BOWL SUPERQUIZ
TEAM CHALLENGE

MOE & FURF ENTERAINMENT GAVE COMPETITORS THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE THE ULTIMATE DREAM OF ANY MOE & FURF FAN: TO BE KNOWN AS A “MOE” OR AS A “FURF.” A 14-QUESTION SUPERQUIZ WAS POSTED AND THE COMPETITORS WERE DRAFTED TO BE MEMBERS OF “TEAM MOE” AND “TEAM FURF.” THOSE NOT HAVING THE INTESTINAL FORTITUDE TO ENTER THIS CONTEST WERE ASSIGNED TO STEVEN HOWARD’S “TEAM DEGENERATE.”

TEAM MOE TOOK THE TITLE 40-34….

THE MVP WAS DECIDED BY THE TIEBREAKER, AND THE CLOSEST PREDICTION AMONG THE THREE TIED FOR THE TITLE WENT TO
COACH PRICE OF JOE T ROBINSON

JUST ONE OF COUNTLESS FANS OF THE LEGENDARY PERFORMERS. HE WAS AWARDED A COMMEMORATIVE MOE-TOWEL STAINED WITH MUD FROM A PIG PEN IN A BACK YARD AT BIGELOW. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT HE WILL TEASURE THIS PRIZE FOREVER, AND WILL NEVER WASH IT…

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT
KIRK RIGGS, AN INDIVIDUAL FURF HAS DEVELOPED AN INTENSE DISLIKE FOR, TURNED OUT TO BE THE HIGHEST SCORING MEMBER OF HIS TEAM….

2002 MARCH MOE & FURF MADNESS
SUPERBRACKET CHALLENGE

AFTER A FEW WEEKS OFF, MOE, FURF & PEFCA TURNED THEIR EYES TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. A WARMUP CHALLENGE WAS HELD TO GET EVERYONE READY FOR THE BATTLE IN MARCH. CHALLENGERS PREDICTED HOW THE SEC TOURNAMENT WOULD GO…

IN THIS NON-TITLE EVENT, THE STRANGER WHO HAD COME TO BE KNOWN AS “DIAPER RASH” RIGGS TOOK THE WARMUP EVENT, WITH FURF CLOSE BEHIND AND MOE WAY DOWN IN THE STANDINGS.
THE RASH THOUGHT HE WAS AT THE LEVEL OF THE LEGENDS NOW, AND BEGAN INCREASING THE FREQUENCY AND INTENSITY OF HIS SMACK AND PERSONAL ATTACKS, NOT KNOWING THAT WHEN THE REAL “GAME-TIME” COMES, THE LEGENDS WOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE….

THE NCAA TOURNAMENT BROUGHT US THE SUPERBRACKET, THE SUPERDRAW, THE SUPERSEED AND THE SUPER 16 CHALLENGES. WHILE SO-CALLED “PLUS PLAYERS” PUT UP ENTRY FEES AND PLAYED FOR A POT IN EACH GAME, MOE, FURF & RIGGS, AMONG OTHERS, DECLINED THE MONEY OPTION AND PLAYED SOLELY FOR THE GLORY OF WINNING THE TITLE…

AFTER CONSULTING WITH MOE SEVERAL TIMES,
JEFF MAGIE MADE HIS PICKS AND TOOK THREE OF THE FOUR POTS, WITH HOMER CHITWOOD ENDED A LONG DRY SPELL TO FINALLY GET SOME OF HIS PAST YEARS’ MONEY BACK IN ONE POT.  THE TITLE, HOWEVER, DID NOT GO TO ANY OF THESE CHALLENGERS. GOING INTO THE SEMIFINALS, IT LOOKED AS IF WE MIGHT HAVE TO HEAR MORE MOUTHING FROM THE RASH, BUT IT WAS NOT TO BE…

AFTER TAKING A TITLE EARLIER IN THE YEAR AMIDST A FLURRY OF CONTROVERSY, MOE PROVED THAT THE LEGEND LIVES ON BY TAKING THE SUPERBRACKET OVERALL TITLE. WHILE HE LIKES THINGS TO GO DOWN TO THE WIRE, THE TITLE WAS HIS AFTER THE SEMIFINALS…NO CONTROVERSY THIS TIME…

A CONFLICT HAD BEEN BREWING ON THE WEB PAGE SINCE A SINGLE  NEWCOMER STARTED ENTERING CHALLENGES AND TALKING SMACK. THE BULLETIN BOARD BECAME CONCERNED WITH MANY THINGS, THE LEAST OF WHICH WAS JUST WHAT WAS IN TIM SMITH’S JOCK STRAP. MANY ALUMNI AND OTHER FANS CHIMED IN WITH ALL TYPES OF TRASH TALK, BUT ONE INDIVIDUAL EMERGED AS THE NEW MENACE TO THE LEGEND OF MOE AND FURF: A GIBRONIE BUILT IN THE MOLD CAST BY THE ORIGINAL DEGENERATE OF 2001-2001: “DIAPER RASH” KIRK RIGGS.

AFTER SEVRAL TOURS ON THE L-TRAIN, A NON-TITLE, WARMUP WIN IN THE SEC TOURNAMENT WARMUP, A NON-TITLE MATCH, GAVE HIM THE IDEA THAT HE HAD ACTUALLY RISEN TO THE LEVEL OF THE GREAT ONES. IT BECAME OBVIOUS TO FANS EVERYWHERE THAT HE WAS HIDING HIS TRUE IDENTITY. RUMORS AROSE THAT THE RASH WAS ACTUALLY MATT LONG FROM ATKINS. A BATTLE WAS INEVITABLE THAT WAS TO THREATEN THE EXISTENCE OF THE MOE & FURF LEGEND AS THE WORLD HAD COME TO KNOW…..
MFR SMACK

MOE, FURF, AND RASH MET EACH OTHER IN A WRESTLING TRIVIA CHALLENGE WITH THE FATE OF THE WEB SITE AT STAKE. IF RIGGS WON, HE WOULD ATTAIN “LEGEND” STATUS AND THE WEB PAGE WOULD BE NAMED AFTER HIM. IF HE LOST, HOWEVER, HE AGREED TO REVEAL HIS TRUE IDENTITY.

25 QUESTIONS WERE GIVEN TO THE THREE CONTESTANTS….

THE WORLD WAITED FOR TWO DAYS……

WHEN THE DUST HAD CLEARED AND PEFCA HAD VERIFIED THE RESULTS, MOE AND FURF GAVE THE CROWD ONE MORE THRILL AND ONCE AGAIN LIVED UP TO THE LEGEND THEY HAD BUILT BY ANSWERING 23 QUESTIONS CORRECTLY, WHILE RASH ANSWERED ONLY 22 CORRECTLY.

A PROTEST WAS MADE BY A SELF-PROCLAIMED “AVID FAN OF THE WEB PAGE” AND
KIRK RIGGS FAN NAMED MIKE ROSE. HE QUESTIONED THE JUDGING OF FOUR OF THE QUESTIONS. PEFCA REVIEWED ALL THE QUESTIONS AND ADJUSTED THE FINAL SCORE TO THE SCORE ABOVE. DURING THE NEXT TWO DAYS, A SERIES OF EMAILS WERE EXCHANGED BETWEEN PEFCA AND THESE TWO INDIVIDUALS.

DURING THIS SAME PERIOD, THE SENTIMENT OF FANS WAS GROWING AND BEING EMAILED TO PEFCA AS WELL. THE CALL TO BAN RIGGS & ROSE CAME FROM THE FANS ON THE WEB, AND IT WAS BECOMING OBVIOUS THAT RIGGS & ROSE HAD NO INTENTIONS OF REVEALING THEIR IDENTITIES OR BEING GOOD SPORTSMEN ABOUT THE LOSS.

PEFCA DECIDED THAT THIS SHOULD BE A MATTER SETTLED BY THE FANS RATHER THAN BY AN EXECUTIVE DECISION ON THEIR PART. THIS RESULTED IN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE EVER TO THE WEBSITE…
MOE & FURF MET RIGGS & ROSE IN A FAN VOTE SURVIVOR SERIES IN WHICH THE LOSER WOULD BE BANNED FOR LIFE FROM THE WEB PAGE. RIGGS & ROSS GOT SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAD NEVER VISITED THE WEB PAGE TO SEND VOTES IN FOR THEM, BUT IT WAS NOT ENOUGH, AS THE TRUE FANS OF MOE & FURF ENTERTAINMENT CAME THROUGH WITH A FLURRY OF SUPPORT ON THE FINAL DAY OF THE VOTING.

MOE & FURF SENT RIGGS & ROSE TO LOSERVILLE AND HAD ONCE AGAIN PROVEN THEY ARE THE REASON FOR THIS WEB PAGE BEING SO POPULAR. EVEN STEPHEN HOWARD, A LONGTIME CRITIC OF FURF, JUMPED ON THE BANDWAGON AGAINST THE “DEGENERATE WANNA-BES….

AFTER DEFENDING THE WEB PAGE AND THEIR TITLES AS LEGENDS, MOE AND FURF SENT A TWO-PAGE ADDRESS TO THE FANS OF THE WEB PAGE NEAR THE END OF A LEGENDARY MF CHALLENGE SEASON. FURF ENTITLED THE SPEECH IN THE TRADITION OF THE PRESIDENT’S “STATE OF THE UNION” ADDRESS;

“THE STATE OF MOE & FURF ADDRESS”

To PEFCA and to the World of Superfans I want to just say by opening this address to thank each and everyone who was a part of this Web Page history. As it has been known that we have had people from Oklahoma, Arkansas the home state of Moe and Furf and Idaho and the other states we were not favored in the voting. Well it is all over and the other two who were defeated well should be comfortable on the L-Train forever.

Now to Address there comments made by them....If we would have lost he would show us mercy...Well mercy is not what Moe and myself have for you....Its like

"Turkey Tracks In the Mud, Son"

its a real simple theory To be the team you have to beat the team.....

And to Steven Howard I just want to say that I want you to know we are glad to have you aboard and that you are a part of the superfans from Perryville........

And to the Best Fans From Perryville Home of the very alive Mustangs We are very proud of you and the town and the community as well. Tradition is what every one should start from first to last always  because you never know who is watching..... One new thing to say on a quote is Winners Never Quit, And Quitters never Win.  So they Quit and they lost and a first class ticket to Loserville and residence there forever.

Page #2.

And finally the bottom line here is, That Riggs did not tell anyone his identity to All the fans of the Web page and to PEFCA as well. In things like that if you lose you should pay up and pay the price. The good of the people have spoken and the good have won and the bad have fallen. To say We are extreme and hard core legends your chariot awaits you to your destination and once again The fans of the state of Arkansas are the best in following sports and the web page as well.  We want to say thank you and hope you continue to watch the continued play at the Super picks page and our challenges as well. Everyone involved again thank you to all you the fans are very important to us and we say :

Thank You Very Much From Perry Co. to the World Thanks to the Fans as well across the World.

All the best to you the Fans...
THE 2002 MFNBA CHALLENGE

THE FINAL SCHEDULED CHALLENGE OF THE MOE & FURF 2001-2002 CHALLENGE SEASON BROUGHT THE LARGEST NUMBER OF COMPETITORS OF THE SEASON. TWENTY CHALLENGERS OFFERED THEIR PREDICTIONS ON THE NBA PLAYOFFS. ALL OF THE GAMES DURING A TWELVE DAY PERIOD WERE PLACED ON THE BOARD.

THERE WERE SEVERAL SURPRISES DURING THIS CONTEST, BUT ONE THING WAS EXPECTED: MOE & FURF WERE AT THE TOP OF THE BOARD AS THE CONTEST CAME DOWN TO THE WIRE. TWO NEWCOMERS TO THE BOARD, BOB JENKINS AND TONY WILLIAMS, ENTERED THEIR FIRST CONTEST AND FOUND THEMSELVES IN THE HUNT AT THE END. JOHN HILL, A SEEMINGLY PERMANENT RESIDENT OF LOSERVILLE THIS SEASON, MADE HIS FIRST RUN OF THE YEAR, ALONG WITH JEREMY CUDE, FUTURE BIGELOW COACH. JOHN HILL HAD THE HIGHEST ODDS IN PEFCA HISTORY AT 1,000,000 TO 1, WHILE MOE AND FURF WERE LISTED WITH 3 TO 2 ODDS…

IN THE CLOSEST CHALLENGE EVER IN MF SUPERPICKS HISTORY, BOB JENKINS EDGED OUT FURF IN A SECOND TIEBREAKER TO TAKE THE TITLE, FOLLOWED BY TONY WILLIAMS AND MOE.

AS PEFCA AWAITED THE FINAL CHALLENGE, MF-FOX CELEBRITY BOXING 2, A DISTURBING EMAIL WAS SENT TO PEFCA FROM BOB JENKINS. IT TURNED OUT THAT BOB JENKINS WAS A FALSE NAME USED BY KIRK “THE RASH” RIGGS. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, PEFCA ALSO LEARNED THAT ONE OF THE OTHER NEWCOMERS, TONY WILLIAMS, WAS ACTUALLY “WAH WAH” MIKE ROSE, RIGGS’ PARTNER IN WEBSLAM. SINCE THE TWO HAD BEEN VOTED OFF THE WEB PAGE IN WEBSLAM, FURF CALLED FOR RIGGS TO BE DISQUALIFIED.

PEFCA TOOK SEVERAL DAYS IN MAKING ITS FINAL RULING TO LOOK AT ALL THE FACTORS INVOLVED, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE WAS THAT THE RASH AND WAH-WAH HAD BEEN VOTED OFF THE WEB PAGE, SO THEY WERE BOTH DISQUALIFIED FROM THE EVENT AND THE TITLE WAS STRIPPED FROM ROSE, RESULTING IN THE TITLE BEING GIVEN TO FURF.

IN MAKING THIS DECISION, PEFCA UNDERSTANDS THAT THE ISSUE OF RIGGS AND ROSE MAY STILL NOT BE RESOLVED. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THESE TWO WILL CONTINUE TO ENTER FUTURE CONTESTS, AND THAT THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THEM UP MAY BE TO LET THEM ENTER A FUTURE CHALLENGE SO THAT SOMEONE CAN ELIMINATE THEM IN FUTURE CONTESTS UNTIL THEY FINALLY SHUT UP AND GO AWAY. IF THERE IS A 2002-2003 MF SUPERPICKS CHALLENGE SEASON…

MOE & FURF WILL STILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE FACT THAT ALTHOUGH RIGGS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN A LEGAL ENTRY, HE STILL BEAT THEM THE LAST TIME THEY FACED OFF AGAINST EACH OTHER. THEY’LL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT ALL SUMMER, AND WE’LL SEE IF THEY WANT TO LAY DOWN AND TAKE IT OR IF THEY WANT ONE MORE FACEOFF……(IF THERE’S ANOTHER COMPETITION NEXT YEAR, THAT IS)
MF-FOX CELEBRITY BOXING 2 CHALLENGE

THE LAST CHALLENGE OF THE YEAR WAS A LAST MINUTE AFFAIR IN WHICH THE COMPETITORS EXTREME-PICKED THE FOUR BOXING MATCHES SHOWN BY FOX TV. IT WAS A NON-TITLE EVENT, BUT IS INCLUDED HERE BECAUSE IT WAS THE LAST CHALLENGE THAT WAS OPEN TO EVERYONE.

WHEN THE DUST CLEARED, FURF AND STOKES FOUND THEMSELVES TIED AT THE TOP OF THE LEADER BOARD, SO THEY WILL HAVE BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR THE SUMMER…

PEFCA AND MF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT EXPERIMENTED WITH THIS EVENT AS A POTENTIALLY MF-WORTHY EVENT, BUT AFTER THE LACKLUSTER PERFORMANCES BY SOME OF THE CONTESTANTS, MANUTE BOL AND THE REFRIGERATOR TO NAME A COUPLE, WE REALIZE THAT THIS EVENT DOES NOT RISE TO LEVEL OF WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A MOE & FURF EVENT. AS A RESULT, PEFCA HAS DECIDED NOT TO SPONSOR THIS EVENT EVER AGAIN. PEFCA & MFSE CONTINUED TO EXPAND THE HORIZONS OF SUPERPICKING, AND ONLY THIS EVENT TURNED OUT TO BE A DUD…….IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN…

2001 - 2002
MOE & FURF AWARDS

There were many noteworthy stories and performances that unfolded during the 2001-2002 Season. There were rumors from PHS alumni concerning the dark side of Moe & Furf in New Orleans and Springdale. There were requests for a “MONK” web page. John Hill shed his SUPERLOSER status and advanced to the rank of a plain old loser. There was trash talk between people who banded together to vote two degenerates off the page. It all goes into the legend of Moe & Furf for later generations to learn about. While PEFCA was distracted by several events in the last few days of the season, we were able to slap together----er, formulate a select few prestigious awards.
After much discussion on the web page and information offered from many experts on the subject who feel that they have done enough research to make their statements, PEFCA awards the
