More than you would ever want to know...
30-something years of trying to help raise other folks' kids and working mostly in small town schools where you couldn't really do things like stay out late or any other evil things without concerned citizens getting their feathers ruffled. I probably wasn't old enough to retire, but I was tired enough. I've got pretty much all I really need. All I needed to do was find a hobby that wouldn't cost me anything...
All those years of having a guitar just sitting in the corner because there wasn't really ever enough time to pick it up; Well, that needed to come to an end...
I kinda stumbled into playing music for pay. It started one night when we went looking for a place in northwest Arkansas that made a good muffaletta. There's a little more to that story, but ain't nobody got time for that...
Now I juggle grandpa duties, general piddlin', and playing music, sometimes for pay, sometimes for free, but always for fun.
I play in spurts sometimes because I don't beat the bushes or schmooze to find gigs. I don't go hound people or ring their phone because I'm not gonna interrupt them in the middle of a busy day; I'm sure they already get plenty of that. All I've ever done is send out a handful of emails every couple of months or so, and ask if they can squeeze me in. That usually keeps me busy enough. Maybe some day I'll get a little more "professional" and do all that other stuff. Today is not that day....
Meanwhile, I'll be the guy that plays now and then with:
No connections
No gimmicks
No sales pitch
No distractions
Music, characters, and stories are all you need if you're paying attention...
Surely that's enough for now...
You really should go find a more worthwhile project...
I'm tired of typing anyway...
